ADHS Recognizes Tucson Airport Authority Fire Department as a Premier EMS Agency
The Tucson Airport Authority Fire Department continues to improve and adapt to the needs of the community it serves. The latest recognition from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) proves it.
On April 30, ADHS certified TAAFD as a Premier EMS Agency, making the department just one of six in Pima County to achieve such a distinction. Fire Chief Thomas Tucker said the certification shows the commitment of TAAFD.
“I am extremely proud of each of our firefighters. This is an accolade that truly shows the dedication our team has to the mission of our organization,” said Chief Tucker. “We are proud to be one of six agencies with the Premier EMS Agency designation. We don’t take lightly our commitment to our community.”
Members of TAAFD had to meet rigorous standards that include maintaining:
- an electronic patient care report system
- a team to review time-sensitive emergencies like opioid overdoses, heart attacks, strokes and major trauma
- a commitment to optimize patient by using data in training, education and policies within the department
- updated information with the Bureau of Automated Online Services
The recognition standards were approved by the state’s EMS Council on Sep. 27, 2018. The team at TAAFD has been working towards this certification since then.
