Former Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority Operations Director Joins Goodwyn Mills Cawood in Huntsville, AL
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) announced Kevin Vandeberg, AAE, former director of operations for the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority, has joined the firm as aviation manager in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, he will be responsible for project oversight, Huntsville area management and strategic plan development for aviation clients in the Southeast.
Vandeberg began his aviation career as an intern at Huntsville International Airport, eventually joining the staff in 1991 after graduating with a degree in aviation management from Auburn University. After a five-year stint as a senior aviation planner with Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Vandeberg returned to HMCAA to serve as director of operations where he has been since 2012.
While serving on the leadership team as director of operations, HMCAA has grown immensely and received numerous honors, including being voted the #1 Small Airport in the U.S. by USA Today. In addition to his experience as operations director, Vandeberg has extensive experience managing airport planning projects and has shared his expertise on national, state and local transportation industry panels and committees throughout his 30-year career.
Vandeberg is familiar not only with the Huntsville Airport, but the Huntsville community and surrounding areas, making him a valuable asset to GMC’s clients in the region.
He is an Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) through the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), co-chair of the AAAE Commercial Space Working Group, and past member of the FlyQuest board of directors. He previously served as a past president and board member for the Aviation Council of Alabama and is a graduate of Leadership Greater Huntsville, L-27. In addition, Vandeberg earned a master’s degree in global logistics and supply chain management from Athens State University in 2020.
