RFD Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 22nd Consecutive Year
For the 22nd consecutive year, Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the Greater Rockford Airport Authority for its Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2020. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as a financial plan, as an operations guide, and as a communications device.
The financial reporting recognition represents a significant achievement by the entity. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. GRAA Deputy Director of Finance and Administration Michelle Cassaro and the finance staff produced the award-winning financial report.
“Each year, our finance department does an outstanding job to provide insight and transparency on the airport’s finances,” said RFD Director Mike Dunn. “We continue to be diligent in our efforts for our taxpayers and our region through our annual financial reporting.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
In addition to the financial reporting designation, RFD’s Procurement and Compliance Manager Chip Geiger recently received a certification for public procurement from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. (NIGP). The NIGP is the go-to-market organization to support supporting public procurement practitioners.
“Chip’s achievement demonstrates his competencies and capabilities for the airport and for taxpayers of the region,” said Dunn. “This recognition distinguishes him and his sustained impact and credibility in the public procurement role.”
