Istanbul Airport is launching the "Now is the Time for Kids to Fly" service to implement the innovations it offers under the concept of "Children and Family Friendly Airport" in order to make traveling enjoyable for families with children.
Standing out with the traveling experience it offers to passengers from various age groups, Istanbul Airport has completed all the preparations for the new services that will be offered to children and their families, as is the case for all its guests.
Aiming to make the traveling experiences of families with children easier and more enjoyable, iGA has come up with various solutions for these families to travel more comfortably and happily at Istanbul Airport. These solutions are brought together under the concept of “Children and Family Friendly Airport.”
April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day, gifted to all the children in the world by Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is celebrated as a digital festival this year under pandemic conditions. On this occasion, the concept of "Children and Family Friendly Airport" is also introduced to the public with the launch of "Now is the Time for Kids to Fly."
The Child and Family Friendly Airport concept draws its inspiration from children's multifaceted interests and the questions they keep asking while exploring. Because children learn so many things for the first time. Nature... Sea... Sky... Space... Glaciers... They are interested in everything that happens around them. iGA enables children to experience the joy of exploring in the best way possible and uncovers this in the light of their favorite activity, namely the games.
Acting with this insight, İGA has built a nature-concept playground to ensure that children enjoy themselves to repletion, explore the green and build a bond with nature, and a sea-concept playground where various species are told in order to ensure that children explore the sea, remember the time they have met the sea and have seen fishes for the first time.
iGA built the glacier-themed playground consisting of snow and ice so that children can explore the miracles of water. When they are asked "What do you want to be in future?" the airport built the sky-themed playground for them to be able to answer this question as "Pilot!" with excitement. And the airport built the space theme park so that they can explore the planets, go on an exciting journey on them, and get to know space science closely.
The total size of the playground, which features five different game concepts designed for children to have a pleasant time at the airport, covers an area of 700 square meters.
When guests with children arrive at Istanbul Airport, they encounter the CiGA character in the areas exclusively designed for them as a part of the Children and Family-Friendly Airport concept.
Families with children can park their cars in spots reserved for them at the airport car park.
At the airport terminal entrance, children and their families can pass through the special doors designed exclusively for them in the form of a space shuttle.
Children and their parents are farewelled to the door of their planes by a train designed in the shape of an airplane.
Free buggy service for children between the ages of 0 and 2 and special welcoming and farewell assistance for the 0-6 age group are among the special services at Istanbul Airport.
The “iGA PASS” membership program, which maximizes the travel experience, also offers services for families with children. While parents wait for their flights in the iGA Lounge, children can play games and watch cartoons. Parents can monitor their children in the playroom on the screens in the food court. The comfort of families with children is emphasized in the iGA Lounge where every detail is considered, such as the children's restroom, infant care room, and breastfeeding room.
As a part of Now is the Time for Kids to Fly events, a film produced for 23rd of April by İGA was also screened.
iGA CEO Kadri Samsunlu explained what awaits children at Istanbul Airport to the film's main character Minik Derin during their conversation.
In addition to the premiere of the special April 23rd movie, Beşiktaş Children's Choir's mini-concert, Kuzey Köker's songs exclusive to April 23, Kids to Become Adults with Doğukan Manço, a show passed from Barış Manço, who is dear to people of all ages in Turkey, to his son Doğukan Manço stand out as the activities taking place at the launch.
While the events continue to take place in the terminal throughout the day on April 23, child guests will get into the festive spirit with a band show and flag distribution.
