SJC Increasing Parking Capacity to Meet Growing Demand
Passenger traffic is increasing at Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC), and with it, the demand for parking. According to airport officials, occupancy rates at SJC’s parking facilities have increased substantially since the onset of Spring. Beginning May 1, the airport is expanding parking options by reconfiguring its facilities to add more than three hundred parking spaces, making it more convenient to find parking for Bay Area travelers taking off from San Jose.
SJC's passenger traffic increase correlates with the rollout of vaccination programs, changes in restriction mandates, and warmer weather. In anticipation of more people traveling throughout summer, the Airport says its priority is to provide returning passengers with the safest and most convenient experience possible, from parking to boarding.
“Airport parking can be one of the most important components of a trip,” said Judy Ross, assistant director of aviation. “As we welcome travelers back to SJC, our goal is to deliver a safe and convenient airport experience, from the parking facilities, through our terminals, and through our gates. Providing the ability to arrive at the airport and find ample, convenient parking is just one way we are helping to take the worry out of flying. We want people to be thinking about where they’re going to fly, not where they’re going to park.”
Changes to SJC’s parking configurations mean more spaces closer to the terminals, and a lower pricing option available in lots near both Terminals. Starting May 1, parking rates in Lot 2 and Lot 4 are $18 per day, and the price for Lot 3 and Lot 5 is $24 per day.

When passengers are ready to travel again, SJC is ready to welcome them back to Silicon Valley’s Airport safely and with added convenience.
