Lee County Port Authority Welcomes Deputy Executive Director of Aviation/Chief Operating Officer
The Lee County Port Authority announced Steven Hennigan, C.M., ACE, as the new deputy executive director of aviation and chief operating officer. In this role, he will lead the aviation division of more than 300 employees at Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field in Fort Myers, FL. Hennigan will be responsible for the fiscal, administrative and operational oversight of the Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Department, Airport Police Department, aviation security & technology, contract management, maintenance, operations & safety, as well as Base Operations at Page Field.
Hennigan brings more than 20 years of aviation and leadership experience to LCPA. Most recently, he was the chief of operations for the Houston Airport System (HAS), where he managed operations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), along with oversight of operational processes and procedures for both airports. Before that, Hennigan served as the assistant general manager of operations at IAH for six years, where he worked on the planning and development of a $1.2 billion terminal redevelopment project. Prior to HAS, Hennigan spent seven years at Denver International Airport (DEN) working as the aviation operations manager and other roles in airfield operations and the airport communications center.
Hennigan is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and is an AAAE Airport Certified Employee in the areas of security and operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz. and has a commercial pilot rating.
