Aeroexpress Opened a New Terminal at Domodedovo Airport
A pedestrian bridge is directly connecting a modern rail terminal complex with the airport building.
The new rail terminal at Moscow Domodedovo Airport received the first passengers. A large-scale infrastructure project with a total area of 23,600 square meters includes two railway platforms with a canopy, four railway tracks and a four-storey multifunctional complex for passenger services. The new terminal has a capacity of1,500 people per hour. It provides passengers comfort and keeps up with the social distancing instructions even during times with increased passenger traffic.
The airport opened the pedestrian gallery which is connecting the terminal of Aeroexpress and the air terminal for passengers' convenience of use. The area of the object exceeds 2,700 square meters. Now passengers arriving at the airport by Aeroexpress trains will be able to move directly to the airport building with no need to go outside. The route from the train to check-in desks will take not more than 5 minutes. There is a separate entrance security point in the pedestrian gallery. This will ensure speed and safety of serving guests and air travelers and will help to distribute traffic between all entrances to the terminal.
Waiting for the train will become more comfortable. In the passenger area of the terminal, which occupies the two lower floors, there are seats, ticket offices and ticket machines, as well as cafes and shops.
According to Aeroexpress General Director Alina Bisembaeva, "Our own terminal opening is an important step both in the development of our company and in the development of the airport. Our common priority is the comfort of passengers at every stage of their trip. The new infrastructure will make the journey from Moscow to the airport more seamless and convenient – now air passengers can go quickly to the departure hall directly from the railway platform through the covered passage. And when travelling to the city, they can spend time waiting for the next Aeroexpress in comfort and with benefits."
Moscow Domodedovo Airport Director Andrey Pavlov said, "This year at Domodedovo the frequency of flights to key domestic tourism destinations increased by 90% compared to June-August 2019. On the eve of the high season, we jointly with our partner are pleased to offer travelers this new comfortable infrastructure. Now Aeroexpress passengers can get to the airport without going outside through the glazed passage equipped with modern lighting, ventilation and heating systems."
The two upper floors of the terminal will be occupied by a hotel, its opening will take place in the near future. The hotel will be especially convenient for transit air passengers – guests of the capital will be able to accommodate comfortably, leave their luggage and, if they have time for a walk, directly from the hotel reach the center of Moscow by Aeroexpress in 45 minutes. When designing the terminal, great attention was paid to the creation of a barrier-free environment. To move up and down storeys lifts are installed, tactile tiles are laid on the floor, special cash register and turnstile blocks, toilet rooms are provided for people with reduced mobility. Aeroexpress connected Domodedovo airport with the center of Moscow in 2008. Trains run every half hour and deliver passengers from Paveletsky railway station to the air hub in 45 minutes. Also you can board Aeroexpress to Domodedovo at the Verkhnie Kotly station, which is integrated with the station of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).
