RNO Celebrates New Non-stop Flights to Austin, Texas
Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) tipped a ten-gallon hat to American Airlines as the air carrier on Sept. 9 celebrated its first non-stop daily flight to Austin, Texas from RNO.
The flight took off at 6 a.m. for the Texas capitol known for its tech scene, music, food and fun. The new flight on American is perfect for business or leisure and connects Texans to Reno-Tahoe’s growing tech sector and famous outdoor fun.
“We’re eager to connect Reno-Tahoe International Airport with Austin, complementing our existing year-round service from Reno to Dallas-Ft. Worth, Los Angeles and Phoenix,” said Brian Znotins, American Airlines vice president of network planning. “As the only carrier to offer a non-stop flight between Reno and Austin, American is making it easier than ever for Northern Nevadans to get back to business, enjoy all that Austin and Central Texas has to offer or reconnect with family and friends.”
Austin is the second long-haul flight announced by American this summer from Reno-Tahoe. Seasonal non-stop daily service to Charlotte, North Carolina, began June 3 at RNO.
“The true spirit of partnership in our region is helping attract more air service,” said Shaun Carey, chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and the hotels and casinos work together to support new air service and make flights successful.”
The new Austin flight on a 76-seat Embraer 175 departs RNO at 6 a.m. and arrives at 11:22 a.m. in Austin. It departs Austin at 7:55 p.m. and lands at RNO at 9:32 p.m.
