Portland International Airport (PDX) is undergoing a massive terminal expansion. The built environment of the Terminal Core Redevelopment project (TCORE) takes inspiration from the natural character and lush landscapes of its Pacific Northwest geography. The centerpiece of the terminal concept is a mass timber roof comprised of 3.3 million board feet of locally sourced Douglas fir, giving visitors a sense of familiarity with the natural environment. A modular mass timber structure, the 9-acre roof supports multiple goals: cost, constructability, sustainability, resiliency and regional identity.
Visit Timberlab at Booth 409 during the AAAE/ACC Airport Planning, Design & Construction Symposium 2022. Timberlab will talk about this landmark project and why you should be paying attention to the growing innovation and popularity of mass timber construction.
