MKE Prepared for Busy Spring Break Travel Season
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is gearing up for its busiest spring break travel season since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As more travelers take to the skies, MKE and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Officials are providing the following travel tips to provide for the smoothest experience possible:
• Arrive at the airport two hours prior to flight time unless you have TSA PreCheck where you can anticipate moving through the line faster.
• Parking facilities may fill. Guarantee your parking spot by making a reservation. The MKE SmartPark app offers a convenient way to reserve parking and earn rewards.
• Pack smart, start with empty bags. Passengers who pack for travel with empty bags are less likely to bring prohibited items through a TSA checkpoint.
• Follow the liquids rule of 3.4 ounces or less, with the exception of hand sanitizer which has a temporary 12-ounce limit in carry-on baggage.
• Utilize MKE’s popular Coat Check service to ditch unnecessary coats for a warm-weather trip. It’s just $2 per day at the Summerfest Marketplace.
Additionally, TSA has implemented changes to the security screening process to limit physical contact and to keep things moving smoothly. Instead of a TSA agent taking a passenger’s ID and boarding pass, the passenger now inserts their identification document into the credential authentication technology (CAT) machine located on some lanes.
MKE currently offers over 35 nonstop flights to destinations this spring break – making it a breeze to travel from coast to coast and beyond with increased international offerings.
