Long Beach, Calif. – An exhibit showcasing talented local artists is on display now at Long Beach Airport (LGB), brightening the way for travelers through a collaboration with Able ARTS Work. The diverse exhibit, CORE 2021, contains 14 pieces in a variety of mediums by local artists. The collection is curated by Able ARTS Work, a local nonprofit that provides inclusive services for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism and all people through creative arts therapies and education.
“This exhibit is a great addition to our airport and an amazing way to showcase the incredible work of Long Beach artists — especially artists with disabilities,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.
The artwork was recently printed and installed on large construction barriers during the ongoing buildout of the new Baggage Claim area in the Airport's heavily trafficked outdoor concourse and will stay up for approximately five months.
“We're proud to provide this platform for artists to showcase their work to travelers coming to and from Long Beach,” said Airport Director Cynthia Guidry. “It’s a priority for us to highlight our local arts and culture scene while providing guests with a uniquely Long Beach experience.”
CORE 2021 is a collaborative body of work between local artists of all abilities and Able ARTS Work resident artists. The collection highlights the unique bonds formed through the artistic process.
"Able ARTS Work celebrates the process of artmaking and growing creatively as an arts community,” said Able ARTS Works Founder and CEO Helen Dolas. "We are grateful to partner with Long Beach Airport and for the opportunity to share CORE 2021 with those visiting Long Beach."
