The City of San José’s Aviation Department Appoints Robert Barker, Deputy Director of Planning and Development
The City of San José’s Aviation Department has named Robert Barker, CFM, as Deputy Director of Planning and Development Program for Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). Mr. Barker will develop, manage and deliver projects in the Capital Development Program. He will begin his new position on October 3, 2022.
Mr. Barker brings more than 30 years of experience in high growth airport planning and development, capital program, environmental, operations, maintenance and sustainability leadership and management positions. Most recently, he worked for the Houston Airport System as Chief Development Officer, Chief Infrastructure Officer. He was also Senior Project Manager for Pacifica Services, Inc. at Los Angeles World Airports; Vice President, Asset Manager for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport; and Vice President, Asset Management for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Mr. Barker earned his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Dallas Baptist University. He is a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) from the International Facility Management Association. Mr. Barker also served in the United States Navy.
