FAA Publishes Vertiport Design Engineering Brief
The FAA's Office of Airports is pleased to publish the first set of guidance for Advanced Air Mobility infrastructure in the form of Engineering Brief (EB) 105 “Vertiport Design”.
This EB provides interim guidance to airport sponsors, vertiport developers and others for the design of vertiports that will support Advanced Air Mobility aircraft. The EB is prescriptive and purposely limited to address vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) operations using information available from aircraft manufacturers currently working toward certification.
On March 1, 2022, ARP shared a draft version of the EB for public comment and hosted an industry day on March 29, 2022, to discuss the contents of the EB. The FAA received and adjudicated close to 700 public and industry comments on the draft EB. Much of that feedback can be found in this final EB or is being considered for inclusion in the future Advisory Circular to be released in 2024/2025.
