Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Enhances Passenger Experience with Immersive Art Tour
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is pleased to announce the creation of a new virtual art tour to highlight the airport’s collection of commissioned art. During the GSP’s WINGSPAN terminal improvement project, the Airport District put out a call to artists for artwork to be incorporated into the terminal.
The collection features seventeen two-dimensional pieces of art and three-dimensional sculptures, all representing the themes of textiles, technology, and water. Each piece tells a story that celebrates the rich heritage of the Upstate region of South Carolina while reflecting a vision of where we've come from, where we live, and where we're going. The virtual tour includes the installation of QR codes located near each art piece, providing passengers with an immersive experience through an audio tour of the collection.
"This initiative is part of the airport's ongoing commitment to enhancing the customer experience at GSP and creating a sense of place within the terminal. By allowing passengers to delve deeper into the meaning and inspiration behind each piece of artwork, we hope to expand our customer’s appreciation of our unique region," said Dave Edwards, President and CEO of the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District.
Passengers can access the audio tour for the collection by following the links provided on the airport's website or by scanning the QR code located near each work of art while in the terminal. The QR codes will provide a seamless connection to an audio guide, offering insights about the artists, their creative process, and the significance of each artwork within the context of the Upstate SC region.
