Fox & Flight Has Landed at Boston Logan International Airport
MarketPlace Logan, an affiliate of Boston-based New England Development and manager of the Boston Logan Concessions Program, announced that Fox & Flight has officially landed and is now open in Boston Logan’s Terminal A. Fox & Flight is the airport’s newest dining destination and is a partnership of local Boston Chef Karen Akunowicz and Paradies Lagardère, a leading North American travel retailer and restaurateur. Chef Akunowicz’s airport restaurant pays homage to traditional Italian cuisine and cocktails with a modern flair inspired by the region of Modena, Italy, while providing a glimpse into her popular South Boston enoteca, Fox & the Knife.
Michael DiCosola, President of MarketPlace Development, stated that “We are pleased to continue elevating the passenger experience at Boston Logan by introducing innovative Boston area restaurants, as well as regional and national concepts, which provide travelers with a wide range of dining options.”
The menu highlights Akunowicz’s flair for bold flavors by introducing new versions of beloved Italian classics. Passengers can enjoy a breakfast that includes eggs and polenta, a breakfast panini, or pancakes made with lemon curd and blueberries before a morning flight. For lunch or dinner, passengers can savor rigatoni Bolognese, bucatini cacio pepe, pork Milanese, and much more.
Like the Chef’s Fox & The Knife restaurant in South Boston, Fox & Flight merges traditional design with whimsical custom, graphic artwork, and an exhibition kitchen to provide passengers a creative, cozy, and inspired neighborhood-like dining experience. The 2,965 square foot space offers a variety of seating options that can accommodate up to 95 guests.
“We are consistently working to enhance the passenger experience, and with the addition of Fox & Flight, we are excited to introduce passengers to a new dining option with local ties,” said Massport Interim CEO and Aviation Director Ed Freni. “Thousands of visitors travel to New England every day to enjoy everything the region has to offer, and our concessions play a significant role in each passenger’s journey.”
Karen Akunowicz is the chef and owner of Fox & the Knife enoteca, Fox Pasta Co. and Bar Volpe Ristorante & Pastificio. She has an impressive restaurant background and has been touted as “Boston’s queen of pasta.” Before going out on her own, she led the kitchen at Myers + Chang for seven years. In 2018, she was the James Beard Foundation award-winner for Best Chef in the Northeast. Chef Akunowicz was a fan favorite when she competed on Bravo’s Emmy-nominated show, “Top Chef” Season 13 and Top Chef “All Stars”. She was a finalist on The Food Network’s “Tournament of Champions” Seasons 3 and 4. Chef Akunowicz has appeared as a judge on “Top Chef”, “Top Chef Canada”, “America’s Worst Cooks”, “America’s Test Kitchen Next Gen”, and is a recurring judge on “Beat Bobby Flay”. In the fall of 2023, she released her first solo cookbook venture, “Crave: Bold Recipes That Make You Want Seconds” and is currently working on her second cookbook.
"One of the reasons that I love the opportunity to open a restaurant at Boston Logan Airport is that I travel so much and I spend so much time in airports that I really understand the value of having a great glass of wine, a good meal, a great conversation with a great bartender,” reflected Chef Karen Akunowicz. “That hospitality can make you feel at home when you are far away from home. In addition, we are able to reach and touch so many people that otherwise would not get the chance to eat our food."
Fox & Flight is located in Terminal A, satellite wing and is open daily.
