Hennigan Named Executive Director of the Lee County Port Authority

The Lee County Board of Port Commissioners named Steven C. Hennigan, C.M., A.C.E., as executive director and CEO of the Lee County Port Authority today, July 30, 2024. As executive director, he will direct the administration, operations and development of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Page Field (FMY) in Fort Myers, Florida.

Hennigan joined the Lee County Port Authority in May 2021 and most recently served as the interim executive director. Prior to that, he was the deputy executive director of aviation and chief operating officer, leading a division of more than 300 employees at RSW and FMY. Hennigan brought more than 20 years of experience in aviation and leadership when he came to LCPA, where he previously was chief of operations for the Houston Airport System (HAS). In this role, he managed operations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), along with oversight of operational processes and procedures for both airports. Prior to HAS, Hennigan spent seven years at Denver International Airport (DEN) serving in several roles including aviation operations manager.

Hennigan is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and an AAAE Airport Certified Employee in the areas of security and operations. He serves on the board for the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society and is a member of the Florida Airports Council. Hennigan is also an executive committee member of the Horizon Council, a local board that advises on economic development issues. He holds a Bachelor of Science in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona and has a commercial pilot rating.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 10 million passengers in 2023 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. Page Field provides services to corporate, commercial and private aviators and accommodated more than 200,000 aircraft operations in 2023.
