Lakota Airport Authority Awarded More than $1.5 Million for Construction on Runway Rehabilitation Project
Jul. 30—LAKOTA, N.D. — U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R- N.D., announced the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration is awarding $1,532,700 to the Lakota Airport Authority, a press release said.
The funding comes through the Airport Improvement Program with the purpose to support the final phase of a project to rehabilitate 3,500 feet of the existing Runway 15/33, the release said, to extend the runway's life, maintain its structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris. The notice for the award said the funding is meant for the final phase of the project, consisting of construction.
The Lakota Airport Authority also
received funds in 2022
from the Federal Aviation Administration for the same project, though the funds were used for the design phase of the rehabilitation and totaled $105,300.
