The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Bronson as the new Airport Manager for Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Bronson brings over 40 years of aviation and leadership experience across military, commercial, and general aviation sectors, making him uniquely qualified to manage one of the world’s busiest cargo airports.

Bronson’s extensive aviation career includes serving as a B-52 pilot in the United States Air Force and 18 years as an international cargo pilot with Northwest Airlines, flying globally from ANC, and later continuing his career with Delta Airlines. While flying commercially, he also served in the Alaska Air National Guard, as the maintenance officer and C-130 pilot, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bronson’s deep connection to Alaska’s aviation community extends to his over three decades of flying general aviation across the state, often operating out of Lake Hood and Merrill Field.

In addition to his aviation experience, Bronson served as Anchorage Mayor in which he gained significant leadership expertise in managing large-scale operations, infrastructure projects, and teams across multiple disciplines. He managed a workforce of nearly 3,000 employees and a budget exceeding $600 million. His ability to navigate complex regulations and implement strategic initiatives will be instrumental in ensuring the continued success of ANC.

“Dave Bronson’s blend of hands-on aviation expertise and public sector experience is an asset to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport,” said Ryan Anderson, DOT&PF Commissioner. “He has a deep understanding of Alaska’s aviation needs, and we look forward to leveraging his operational experience to further strengthen ANC’s role as a critical hub for Alaskans and global commerce.”

As Airport Manager, he will report to the Alaska International Airport System (AIAS) director, oversee operations at ANC, and support AIAS's mission of connecting Alaska to the world while facilitating global aviation and trade. He will begin his role on Monday, Jan. 27.

“I am honored to take on the role of Airport Manager at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport,” said Dave Bronson. “Having spent much of my career based at ANC and working within Alaska’s aviation sector, I understand the vital role this airport plays for our state and beyond. I look forward to contributing my experience to support ANC’s growth and success, while ensuring it remains a safe, efficient, and innovative hub for aviation.”
