MT: Great Falls Awarded Improvement Grant
The Great Falls Airport Authority announced it received simultaneous notifications July 7, from the offices of both Senator Tester and Senator Daines that the airport authority will receive approximately $7.1 million in discretionary Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grants. Combined with the Airport’s annual entitlement funds, the authority is expecting to receive a grant offer of $8.9 million in the next week.
These funds will be used for construction on the existing (16/34) runway complex, including improvements to runway safety areas, installation of guidance signs, installation of navigational aids, new runway temperature sensors, rehabilitation of the runway’s aging pavement, standardization of runway lighting, and construction of a new parallel taxiway. Construction is expected to begin by Aug. 1.
The airport authority is very appreciative to our partners at the Federal Aviation Administration for recognizing the importance of this project and also to both of our Montana Senators who have been very active in ensuring the FAA had the resources necessary to release these funds.
