ACI Jet announced Nathen Steiger as general manager of its John Wayne Airport FBO location. An industry veteran and pilot, Steiger brings a diverse aviation background in both FBO management and flight operations to his new role.
Steiger’s selection as general manager is part of a general restructuring of ACI Jet’s FBO management team, which also sees Joe Daichendt promoted to senior vice president of FBOs.

Benjamin West Named Pocatello Regional Airport Manager
Benjamin West was named manager of the Pocatello Regional Airport on July 19.
He comes to Pocatello from Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport in Dickinson, North Dakota where he was an operations specialist. Prior to his time in Dickinson, he was an airport planner for the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.

Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport Opens New General Aviation Facility
Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport officials cut the ribbon July 18, on a new $5.8 million General Aviation facility powered in part by a solar project provided by Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky customers.
The new state of the art facility will house the operations of the airport owned Fixed Base Operator (FBO), Sweetwater Aviation.

Meridian Opens New Hangar at Teterboro Airport
Meridian opened a new, state-of-the-art hangar at its New Jersey-based headquarters in Teterboro Airport.
The new building replaces the original Hangar 12, which was demolished in the summer of 2016. This modern facility includes a 40,000 sq. ft. hangar and a two-story support building, effectively doubling the size of the previous facility.

Concourse A Expansion – Phase I at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) opened July 18, to the public.

Indy Airport’s Human-Powered Charging Stations Win North American Honor
The Airports Council International-North America selected the Indy airport’s human-powered charging stations as one of the Best Innovative Consumer Experiences or Practices among airports today. ACI recognized the charging stations because they demonstrate a unique approach “that provides an exceptional and memorable customer experience that engages the senses, mind and the emotions.”
Each station features four stationary bikes that are connected to a generator. Travelers cycle for fitness, while generating power to charge their devices. The charging rate is equal to charging by means of a wall plug.

Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport Breaks Ground on Major Capital Improvement Projects
Ground was broken June 13, on nearly $10.5 million worth of capital improvements coming to Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.
Building improvements include a complete rehabilitation of the fixed base operator (FBO) facility’s main hangars and the relocation of the general aviation terminal building.
Roadway and parking lot improvements include combining Parking Lots A and B to create approximately 225 new parking spaces, while creating a dedicated two-lane, one-way drive through the main terminal complex.

Acapulco’s Airport Inaugurated Its Expanded Modern Terminal
Acapulco has inaugurated its newly expanded International Airport that will allow the iconic beach resort to welcome a growing numbers of visitors. Also known as General Juan N. Álvarez International Airport, with airport code ACA, Acapulco’s airport expansion has a capacity for handling 1.3 million passengers.
Among the most noticeable aspects of the new airport expansion is its vast size: it is now 19,000 square meters or 204,514 square feet in area, an increase of 7,000 square meters or 75,347 square feet over the old airport. The new terminal features an eco-conscious design that aims at reducing environmental safety, while the latest in airport technology enhances the experience and security of travelers to Acapulco.
