Shortly after 1 p.m., the TSA responded to a security alert that necessitated the temporary closure of the B and C checkpoints. The incident was resolved after about 15 minutes and the checkpoints were re-opened and passenger traffic through the checkpoints is now moving normally.
Airlines were alerted about the closure and where possible were able to hold flights to accommodate passengers impacted by the checkpoint delay. At this point, we don’t know of any passengers who missed their flights due to the security alert. Most of the backups were cleared in less than 20 minutes.
The nature of the alert is still under investigation by the TSA.
