Pristina International Airport Achieves 20% Reduction in Costs
Slow check-in procedures and lost and delayed baggage can be distressing for travelers, as well as expensive and frustrating problems for airlines and airports.
With Amadeus’ innovative solutions, Pristina International Airport is addressing both of these issues. At Kosovo’s gateway airport, costs are falling thanks to the implementation of Amadeus Altéa Ground Handler Departure Control solution (DCS), and Amadeus’ cloud-based Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS).
As the only airport of entry for air travelers to Kosovo, Pristina International Airport handles almost two million passengers per year. In recent years, it has seen increasing flight numbers, developed its infrastructure and extended its route network. Since migrating to the next-generation of Amadeus Altéa DCS in April, Pristina has been able to further improve its operational agility, and to generate an impressive 20 percent reduction of its costs associated with check-in and airline weight and balance activities, in just two months.
To enhance interoperability and reduce processing costs, Pristina also adopted the Amadeus BRS solution. The move ensures Pristina’s airline customers to comply with IATA’s Resolution 753, which has come into effect in June and requires airlines to maintain an accurate inventory of baggage by monitoring the receipt and delivery of baggage at key stages of the process. As a result of the significant advances in baggage handling provided by Amadeus BRS, Pristina expects to generate further savings and to offer a better traveler experience.
Gökmen Aritay, COO, Limak Kosovo International Airport JSC, comments, “As we continue to grow our passenger numbers, open new routes and attract airlines, it is vital that we operate a cost efficient, agile and reliable operations, underpinned by a fully integrated suite of solutions. That is why we have chosen both the Amadeus Altéa Ground Handler Departure Control and Amadeus BRS solutions. Working with Amadeus supports us in our mission to provide a sustainable, safe and secure environment and to increase the service level quality for our customers continuously. I’m also pleased that thanks to these solutions our operational costs are falling, while keeping our airlines customers happy too.”
Yannick Beunardeau, head of airport IT EMEA at Amadeus, says, “We are thrilled that one of the most successful and innovative airports in the Balkans, known for its operational excellence and commitment to customer services, has adopted solutions which are further enhancing the quality and efficiency of core airport operations. These improvements are already driving down costs and ensuring a less stressful experience for passengers.”
