Our Defense Heritage
Our history in the defense sector dates back to World War I when James Allison halted the company’s regular operations to manufacture equipment for the U.S. Military. This set the stage for Allison to evolve into a leading supplier of wheeled and tracked vehicles. Today, we provide transmissions to the U.S. Department of Defense for all-wheeled vehicles heavier than the Humvee and more than half of the armored combat vehicles used by the U.S. Military.
