Carole Ann Angel isn’t quite sure why she chose aviation. In a way, it kind of chose her. Before she was hired to work with STS Aviation Group as a client services representative, Angel was keenly focused on completing her master’s degree, but also needed a job.
“I never imagined myself doing this work before I started doing it,” she explained. “In fact, it was the people I would soon get to know that made my decision to accept the position a relatively easy one for me to make. Was it a risk for me to take on a new, full-time role way back then while I was focused on school? Sure, but it’s a decision that catapulted my career and stoked an inner passion for aviation; there is no way I will ever regret it.”
When Angel started with STS Aviation Group, she was initially assigned to its staffing division. This experience taught her the ins and outs of the MRO world while also allowing her to cut her teeth and learn what it takes to truly cultivate and nurture successful client relationships.
Right now, in her role as the director of client services for the MRO division, she oversees, trains and manages the client services team. “Together, we focus on fostering a great customer/client experience for the people and businesses we partner with, and we do our best to nurture these relationships to maximize results, reduce fees and ultimately, save our clients both time and money.”
Mark Smith, group president of STS Aviation Group has been a huge mentor for Angel. “I came to STS Aviation Group green, I’ll admit, but over the course of my journey, people like Mark have taken the time to not only train me, but to inspire the best from me each and every day,” she explained. “That’s something I value dearly and I am profoundly grateful to have had Mark’s support over the years.
Angel says she gives back by working hard for clients every day, by training colleagues and by always being available to lend the same level of time and attention that was given when she first started. Teaching is one of the best ways to give back, she says, and she will continue to embrace that.
“STS Aviation Group is my professional home, and I hope that never changes,” she said. “With that in mind, I don’t think it’s out of bounds for me to say that one day I’d love to see myself sitting in a shiny new board seat or staring out at the bay from a floor-to-ceiling window inside of an executive level office. What can I say? I’m a determined woman.”
