Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Boxing Day and Happy Ōmisoka Day! There are so many wonderful holidays this month all across the world, which means there will be celebrations spanning the globe and people traveling from state-to-state, country-to-country and even continent-to-continent – which is good news for the aviation community.
During the holidays, I always like to reconnect with friends and family that I do not get to see the rest of the year. I go back to my childhood home in Michigan, set up tons of lunch dates with everyone who still lives there or those who are in town visiting family as well and catch up on the past year. Over the years my family and friends have branched out far and wide, with one friend even living in South Africa! So it is something I look forward to each and every year, having everyone I care about in one place at one time.
Unfortunately, or not so unfortunately for my mom and dad, my parents retired this past spring and moved to a newly-built cabin in the woods far away from my usual holiday gathering spot, so I will not be able to meet up with many of my friends and family. And, after an especially hard time of not seeing anyone last year due to the pandemic, I am finding this change to be even more difficult. Alas, through texts, video chats, phone calls and social media, I will reconnect with my loved ones either way. It won’t be the same, but I am so thankful for the technology of today allowing us all to connect from far away places.
Speaking of connecting, I invite you to connect with me on LinkedIN. I am always happy to hear what our readers have to say and if you have a topic or an idea you think AMT should report on, please send me a message there. I also would like to invite you to follow the new AMT LinkedIN company page where we post our exclusive online articles, exciting industry news and interact with our readers. It may not be lunch out with my old friends from high school, but it keeps us connected and engaged, especially during a time like this.
Stay safe, be healthy and see you next year!
