As a pilot and an aircraft mechanic, Andrew Mabe’s passion is sharing a love for aviation with others while upholding the highest standards of excellence and safety in every aspect of flight and maintenance.
“I love the aviation industry for its cutting-edge technology, dynamic challenges, and the thrill of connecting with people and places around the world,” he said.
In 16 years, he has been privileged to work in a variety of settings. From contracting for the military in Alabama to working on float planes in Alaska, teaching at a Part 147 school in North Carolina to maintaining helicopters in Hawaii, and other jobs in between, each experience has helped him grow.
Today, as the director of maintenance for USAeroFlight, a flight school in South Carolina, he says, “I want to bring to fruition all of those experiences and share what I can with those around me.”
In fact, he said, one of his greatest joys is seeing students of all ages grow in their love of aviation and learn to take pride in their work – whether in the sky or on the ground.
“I love witnessing the process of someone with no prior aviation experience grow in their love of aviation and learn to take pride in their work,” he said.
Mabe said he wants to inspire others to pursue a career in aircraft maintenance not just because it is a convenient or well-paying job, but because they have developed a passion for aviation.
Whether it means working extra hours, rescuing downed aircraft in the middle of the night, mentoring students and interns, or assisting in disaster response activities, Mabe is known for helping his team succeed.
