Boeing Subsidiary CDG Team Wins a Brandon Hall Group Gold award for excellence in the Learning and Development category for "Best Use of Games and Simulations for Learning".
"Winning a Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award means an organization is an elite innovator within Human Capital Management. The award signifies that the organization's work represents a leading practice in that HCM function," said Rachel Cooke, Chief Operating Officer of Brandon Hall Group and head of the awards program. "Their achievement is also notable because of the positive impact their work in HCM has on business results. All award winners have to demonstrate a measurable benefit to the business, not just the HCM operation. That's an important distinction. Our HCM award winners are helping to transform the business."
Boeing LTD is responsible for delivery of training to Boeing and airline customers. The LTD team needed to develop a more cost-effective and time-saving approach to train aircraft technicians on how to properly refuel oxygen equipment without compromising safety. LTD partnered with the eLearning team at CDG to develop a realistic, interactive 3D simulation and training course based on photos and instructions in aircraft maintenance manuals.
The eLearning course has delivered significant savings of time and money, both in the classroom and on the job. The previous training class required 16 hours of equipment and materials preparation and in-class time; the new eLearning course takes significantly less time to complete, saving learner hours for each training course plus additional hours throughout the year due to the shorter time needed for securing training equipment and workshop training tasks. In addition, the training was connected to a significant process change that reduced the on-the-job time required for a trained technician to service a plane's oxygen equipment. This efficiency translates into faster maintenance "turn times" to help avoid flight delays and get airplanes off the ground and back into service quickly.
"We are extremely pleased that everyone who contributed to the project is receiving well-deserved recognition for their outstanding efforts," said Norma Clayton, vice president of Boeing Learning, Training and Development (LTD). "This award is not only about the innovative approach and quality of the training materials; it also demonstrates what can be achieved when our talented teams at Boeing effectively collaborate and work together to drive a better solution for customers."
Boeing subsidiary CDG is a leading provider of engineering, technical data and eLearning services and solutions. CDG's eLearning teams developed the multimedia simulation training content design for the training courses.
The award entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts and executives based upon the following criteria: fit the need, design of the program, functionality, innovation, and overall measurable benefits. Excellence Award winners will be honored at Brandon Hall Group's HCM Excellence Conference January 24-27, 2017, at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
