151 New Trainees Begin at the Lufthansa Technik Group

Applicants were able to choose between 15 different professions and courses of study.

At the traditional start of the German training year 151 young people started either traditional or dual-study training programs with the Lufthansa Technik Group. The selection process for 2018 is already underway at www.be-lufthansa.com/technik. All told, Lufthansa Technik in Germany will now be home to 569 young people on their way to professions in technical aircraft services or aircraft logistics.

76 of the new trainees are beginning programs in Hamburg, 44 in Frankfurt, 16 in Arnstadt, 11 in Alzey and four in Munich. Applicants were able to choose between 15 different professions and courses of study.

The range of programs for electronics technicians was expanded once again. In Hamburg, 15 trainees have begun a program to become electronics technicians for devices and systems; they will go on to work in specialized workshops. 18 aircraft electronics specialists are being prepared in Hamburg and Frankfurt for work on aircraft in hangars.

95 young people will begin their training directly at Lufthansa Technik and another 11 will be starting at Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, the successful Lufthansa Technik Group company that specializes in overhauling smaller jet and propeller engines. With this step, Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey is expanding its training capacity (it now has a total of 31 training slots) to safeguard the company's strong growth over the long term with motivated, expert specialists.

Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS) has 25 new trainees for the future-oriented profession of warehouse logistics specialist as well as four people training to become specialists for forwarding and logistics services. This is likewise an increase in the company's training commitment, and one that reflects the rapid development of supply networks for customers all over the world. With what is now 65 training slots, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services has the largest training program in the Lufthansa Technik Group aside from its parent company.

N3 Engine Overhaul Services, a 50:50 joint venture with Rolls-Royce headquartered in Arnstadt in Thuringia, has also increased the number of training slots it offers: This location is now home to 15 young people training to become aircraft mechanics for engine technology and one warehouse logistics specialist trainee. With a total of 51 trainees, N3 is likewise an important training location in the Group.

The percentage of women among the new trainees is 13% this year, and thus a satisfying 5 percentage points higher than last year. The company will continue to pursue its efforts of recent years to interest women in the technology professions of the future.
