Southern Museum of Flight Releases 2017-2018 Young Aviator's Bombshell Calendar for Scholarship
Birmingham, AL – The Southern Museum of Flight September 2017-August 2018 Young Aviator's Bombshell Calendar, available now for purchase, supports the $5,000 Mary Alice Beatty Scholarship for women ages 17 through 25 pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace technology. This year's calendar features young children as early aviation legends like Bessie Coleman, Amelia Earhart and the Wright Brothers. Calendars are available for purchase on our website or directly at the link http://www.southernmuseumofflight.org/calendar/ and are $20 each and are also available in the museum gift shop.
Future scholarship applicants may apply for the scholarship starting each September through a link on SouthernMuseumofFlight.org or directly on WAI.org Applicants must live in Alabama or attend school in Alabama and must be working towards their career to qualify. If a scholarship recipient will be chosen in January 2018.
In 1966 Mary Alice Beatty began the aviation collection at Samford University which would develop into the Southern Museum of Flight, Birmingham's premier flight museum. With Ms. Beatty's daughter, Mary Alice Beatty Carmichael, the museum seeks to galvanize her family's aviation legacy and financially support the achievements of women in aviation and aerospace.
The Southern Museum of Flight is located in East Lake, two blocks from the Birmingham International Airport, at 4343 73rd Street North, 35206. The Southern Museum of Flight is dedicated to investigating, preserving, and promoting the rich stories of Southern Aviation and to providing exciting, interactive educational programming for people of all ages.
