Congratulations to Angel Vasquez and Zack Smith from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics Team Myrtle Beach, sponsored by Myrtle Air Services, for coming in with the fastest time in the school category for the Barfield Pitot-Static Event at the 2018 Aerospace Maintenance Competition. This event was designed to test the skills of each participating team in their understanding of and ability to troubleshoot an aircraft Pitot-Static system.
In addition to getting the fastest time in the school category, the team has earned the Myrtle Beach Campus a new Barfield Pitot-Static Tester with training, valued at over $11,000.
The Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC) is a venue for teams of certificated Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and students enrolled in either FAA, EASA, CASA or equivalently authorized schools as well as personnel of any country’s Armed Forces that are involved in the aircraft maintenance and spacecraft maintenance field. Uncertificated Aircraft Technicians and Aircraft Engineers employed with a MRO/OEM company are also eligible to compete.
“AMC is an opportunity for students to test their combined abilities against those of their peers,” said Peg Skalican, Campus Director of PIA Myrtle Beach. “It’s an exciting competition that’s focused on continuously raising the standards for today’s aviation maintenance professionals to provide safe, airworthy aircraft,” said Skalican.
