AsBAA, Asia’s non-profit representative body for the business and general aviation industry (BA/GA) has announced a new collaboration with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) MBA programme to offer AsBAA members internship recruitment support. The initiative is being offered with a view to providing AsBAA members with additional manpower, a new potential talent pipeline, brand exposure and corporate social responsibility (CSR) opportunities.
For the first time, BA/GA will be formally introduced to HKUST MBA students under the new partnership between the programme and AsBAA Discovery. The initiative forms part of the HKUST MBA career enrichment program in which students will finish a consulting project at a Hong Kong business. The exact nature of the project is to be defined by the hiring/hosting company, in this instance, AsBAA members. In order to participate, the company simply needs to submit a request to AsBAA for a project or multiple projects for which it would benefit from the help or one of more MBA level interns. The interns will be available from February 2019 and can remain at the hiring/hosting company for a period of up to three months to complete the requested project.
Sarah Kalmeta, member of the Board of Governors and head of the AsBAA Discovery programme said, “The sky is the limit on what format these projects could take. We have engaged Vinna Tsang of The V Executive Search to manage the screening and recruitment process for our members. This means that the internship candidates will be pre-screened and effectively matched to the company that best suits them and vice versa. We hope that our members leverage this opportunity to introduce their companies to these outstanding young professionals”.
Vinna Tsang Founder of The V Executive Search is a recruitment specialist for the BA/GA industry. She said, “I am delighted to support AsBAA Discovery with this scheme which will increase awareness of our industry among high-calibre job-seeking professionals. As we know, talent shortages are one of the limiting factors of our industry. Whilst there is no “quick fix”, the work that AsBAA and AsBAA Discovery is doing to increase awareness of BA/GA among students and young professionals is of great value. I am excited to be involved and look forward to matching the candidates with AsBAA members!”
Examples of HKUST Business School's previous consulting projects included: Competition Analysis and Market Identification, consulting project at Clare Ai; Developing a Product Marketing Plan, consulting project at Alvanon.
