San Antonio (June 19, 2019) – Twenty-nine middle and high school students are spending this week at Stinson Municipal Airport for the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy. Each year the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals and the Federal Aviation Administration host this event to introduce youth between the ages of 13-17 to career opportunities in the aviation and aerospace fields.

Tom Bartlett, Deputy Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio welcomed the participants and several members of the San Antonio Airport System discussed their backgrounds and current jobs in the aviation industry. The young participants will also learn about aviation history, meteorology, navigation, meet the airport’s K-9 team, tour the hangars and take an orientation flight with a pilot.

More than 1,600 youth have participated in ACE since it started in 1989. For more information on the program, please contact Sarah Allen at 1-830-751-2739.
