Airplanes and Helicopters and Flying Animals All in One Place
Saturday, January 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will be the first open cockpit event for the new year at the New England Air Museum. The Museum will be partnering with Beardsley Zoo and Old New-Gate Prison for a soaring good time. This is the first time that the Museum will pair its very popular open cockpit event with Animals in Flight. Educational sessions will be held at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with Beardsley Zoo Educators bringing science to life with their interactive aviary demonstrations. Old New-Gate Prison will be onsite with bat themed activities and educational information on how bats help our environment. This event will also include: climb aboard experiences in historic aircraft; flight simulators; hands-on Themed Build & Fly Challenges, and much more. A variety of aircraft will be open for visitors including the WWII era Republic P-47D, the Vietnam War era Bell UH-1B “Huey” helicopter, as well as supersonic jet fighters including the North American F-100 Super Sabre jet fighter and the Lockheed F-104C Starfighter.
The New England Air Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day. Closed on Mondays during the winter season. Admission is $16.00 for ages 15 and up, $14.00 for seniors 65 and up and $10.00 for ages 4 to 14. New England Air Museum members and children 3 and under are admitted free.
