Aero Skills Tournaments – We’re Back and Headed Your Way in The Fall

July 28, 2021

On Saturday, September 18th, 2021, the Aero Skills Tournaments Kick-off the 6 event 2021 Regional Schedule. Competition sites include Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Cape Canaveral, Wichita, San Antonio, and Los Angeles, where ALL Structures/Sheet Metal techs from skill levels Junior to Senior will compete – OPEN to every aircraft technician wishing to compete to claim the title of “Top Gun” of Aircraft Structures and will advance to the National Final in Las Vegas, for a shot at their share of the $60,000 purse!

We are touring across the US once again! In 2020 you saw the introduction of our Aero Skills From Home, however it’s been since February 2020 that we have not been able to go head-to-head in these competitions. 2021, we expect to see over 35 different schools and 2 dozen industry teams competing in this one trade – Aircraft Structures.

“The shortage of people trained to work in the aviation industry is a real problem and it is expected to get much worse following the return to skies after the COVID hiatus. This, combined with the forecasted growth in our industry, is the main reason we are traveling the country to help raise awareness, create excitement and attract potential students and journeypeople technicians, young and old, to these careers,” stated Jay Logie, Chief Operations Officer and Founder of Aircraft Technologies Group (ATG, is the parent company of Aviation NETWorX and Aero Skills and Aero Skills Apprenticeship programs).

“EVERY Regional event is on a Saturday and will start at 11am, local time and run until 3pm. Anyone may get up close to watch students (Junior Class) and professionals (Senior Class) battle against the clock, and each other, for prize money, bragging rights and to have a shot at going to the AERO SKILLS National Championship,” stated Randy Klym “This is a very cool event for parents and students interested in careers in the aerospace and aviation industry will want to come early and get a seat and even talk with people from the trenches (the hangar floor).”

AERO SKILLS is a competition based on industry practices, set in an audience environment so that the K-12 students and the COMMUNITY AT LARGE can have a chance to see techs demonstrating their skills, hear about the numerous career options the aerospace industry has to offer and to meet the people who choose a career in aviation. Competitors (industry trades people), Industry and trade school representatives will be on hand to discuss employment opportunities.

The Aero Skills competition is part of ATG’s mission to give back to the aviation community and connect trades people, industry, and schools. Work, Grow and Thrive in our aviation community.
