EAA To Host Educator Day and Teacher Day at AirVenture 2023
Educators attending AirVenture will have multiple opportunities to learn about how to introduce aviation into their classroom. The inaugural AeroEducate Educator Day will take place on Monday, July 24, while Teacher Day returns on Friday, July 28.
“Hundreds of educators attend AirVenture every year, but not all of them are able to stay for the entire week,” said Paul Maloy, EAA Director of Education. “We added Educator Day this year to give more opportunities for educators coming to Oshkosh to learn how aviation can tie in with their curriculum.”
AeroEducate Educator Day is an event designed to introduce educators to the available resources to teach students about aviation in their classroom. The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon on July 24 at the AeroEducate Center. Some of the resources attendees will be introduced to include full curriculum, grab-and-go classroom activities, and online opportunities.
The large group session will see an expansive look at AeroEducate, EAA’s newest aviation education resource for grades K-12. Small group breakout sessions will follow, where attendees will see a demonstration of NEXTGEN Aviators’ immersive aviation experience and hear from aviation education leaders during a panel discussion. The event is free to attend, and online pre-registration is encouraged.
Teacher Day will be held on Friday, July 28, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Youth Education Center in the EAA Aviation Museum. Teachers will see presentations and workshops focusing on ways to integrate aviation and STEM into the teaching curricula for the fall. Teachers will end the day with a grab and go lunch and the opportunity to enjoy the rest of the airshow.
This free event, sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and supported by Flite Test, is open to all educators. The event comes with an AirVenture wristband as a thank you to our region’s educators. Online registration is required.
