Avidyne EX600 MFD Receives European Approved Model List Certification in Cessna 200/300/400 Series Aircraft
Lincoln, Mass. – September 4, 2012--– Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated avionics, flight displays, and safety systems for general aviation aircraft, announced that IAE Ltd., of Bedfordshire, England, has received an Approved Model List (AML) Minor Change Approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the installation of the Avidyne EX600 Multi-Function Display (MFD) in Cessna 200, 300, and 400 series aircraft.
“This AML authorization dramatically streamlines the installation approval process in Europe for future installations of our EX600 MFD in more than 80 different Cessna models from the C210 up through the C441,” said Bill Schillhammer, Avidyne’s Director of International Sales. “We are very thankful to the very capable folks at IAE Ltd for pursuing this AML approval and for making it available as a reference document for others installing the EX600 as well.”
“The EX600 display provides terrific situational awareness and safety benefits for our customers, with such features as European-specific datalink graphical weather, CMax™ Electronic Approach Charts, European VFR charts, and a large number of radar interfaces,” said Garry Joyce, Avionics Director and Co-owner of IAE, Ltd. “This is the first in a series of AML approvals we are seeking, which will ease the installation approval process, saving both time and money for our European customers who upgrade to the EX600.”
About the EX600
Avidyne’s EX600 is a highly-capable Multi-function Display (MFD) that is designed to enhance situational awareness and safety for pilots of general aviation airplanes and helicopters.
Incorporating a 5.8-inch diagonal, 640x480 pixel (VGA) display, the EX600 features Avidyne’s renowned easy-to-use pilot interface. With its innovative Map Panning keys and exclusive QuickPan™ function, the EX600 dramatically improves a pilot’s ability to access and display critical flight data. The QuickPan™ function allows the pilot to quickly toggle between the present position and a panned-to position–such as Destination airport–with a single button push.
All EX600s include the ability to display CMax™ electronic approach charts & over 6,000 worldwide airport diagrams at no additional charge, as well as support for European VFR Charts (aka Bottlang Airfield Manual)—covering over 2200 airports in 29 European countries. CMax Charts provide an added measure of situational awareness during critical phases of flight and while taxiing, both domestically and internationally. Subscription services for CMax are available through Jeppesen.
With interfaces to 20 different radar models, the EX600 is unmatched as a radar-replacement MFD, meaning it can act as a display replacement for many out-dated and un-repairable cathode ray tube (CRT) radar displays, while adding significant situational awareness and utility enhancements.
In addition, the EX600 provides the widest range of sensor interfaces available in a retrofit MFD including TAS600-Series Traffic Advisory capability and TWX670 Color Tactical Lightning Detection. With Avidyne’s unique MultiLink™ capability, the EX600 can display both broadcast datalink in the Continental U.S. (CONUS) through the MLB700 and worldwide datalink (including Europe) through the MLX770 datalink transceiver. Optional TCAS I and TAWS/EGPWS/HTAWS interfaces are also available.
