Esterline CMC Electronics Presents Cost-Effective LCD Display Solution to Replace Legacy CRT Displays
(National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Show – October 21, 2014) Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC) is introducing a new retrofit product for older business jets at the NBAA this year. The CMA-6800 LCD display is a form, fit and functional replacement for legacy CRT units.
The CMA-6800 LCD Display offers significant improvements in reliability and readability. With this retrofit solution, there is minimal kit and downtime required, thereby ensuring a quick conversion.
“CMC’s goal is to help customers solve their aging CRT problems,” said Patrick Champagne, vice president, cockpits and system integration, Esterline CMC Electronics. “Our solution provides operators with reliable and cost-effective display capabilities in a unit that delivers reduced weight and power consumption. The CMA-6800 LCD display is designed to drive down maintenance costs and eliminate obsolescence problems with CRT technology.”
The CMA-6800 has hardware built-in provisions for growth for additional display capability, both through an internal central processing unit and additional interfaces. The unit retains the use of existing symbol generators, Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) controllers and related EFIS select panels. Along with minimizing the cost of the retrofit, CMC’s new LCD display units will enable operators to minimize the impact on current operations and get the most out of their current installed systems.
