Universal Avionics Hosts NextGen Hub at NBAA-BACE

    Universal has sent in their top experts to be on site in the Hub to offer help and support for operators facing equipage upgrades for the FAA’s NextGen roadmap, sharing their in-depth knowledge and first-hand experiences at NBAA-BACE.

    TUCSON, AZ – Universal Avionics is unveiling a new hands-on learning concept for attendees seeking solutions for NextGen equipage during the 2016 NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE). The centerpiece of the concept, called the “NextGen Hub,” came to fruition after hearing operators’ feedback and questions about the complex environment of meeting NextGen mandates. Universal has sent in their top experts to be on site in the Hub to offer help and support for operators facing equipage upgrades for the FAA’s NextGen roadmap, sharing their in-depth knowledge and first-hand experiences.

    The company’s on site experts share a broad background in NextGen and include:

    • Carey Miller: With nearly 20 years in the avionics industry, he is adept with data link, including technical, regulatory and operational use for FANS, Link 2000+, ADS-B, and Data Comm. He is involved with the FAA Performance-based Operations Aviation Rulemaking Committee Communications Working Group (PARC CWG) since 2011. He has also been a pilot since 1985, with type rating in the Beechjet 400A, Challenger 604, and Citation 650.
    • Grady Dees: Over 30 years of experience integrating avionics for NextGen onto numerous aircraft platforms.
    • Joe LoCascio: Proficiency in the UniLink® UL-800/801 CMU including installation, troubleshooting, and interfacing with Iridium SatCom for FANS 1/A+. He is also well-versed with UniLink SCN 31.X, ATN B1, and VDL Mode 2 for ATN.
    • Mike Michalski: Over 40 years of experience in aviation as a pilot and instructor. He is also a well-known source of knowledge on operating the FMS, the foundation for complying with the path to NextGen.
    • Paul Damschen: More than two decades of experience in developing, testing, and certifying avionics systems and aircraft of all kinds, specifically supporting the FAA’s NextGen. He is a Flight Test DER and is type rated on several transport airplanes, with experience in over 80 make and model aircraft of all types.

    Universal’s NextGen experts will also join together on Tuesday, November 1st and Wednesday, November 2nd to host two “Design for the Future: 4 Steps to Equipping for NextGen and Increasing the Value of Your Aircraft” workshop sessions. Both sessions will be held each day at 1:30pm in Booth 235 and will cover the “building block” approach to equipping for upcoming mandates while adding value to the aircraft. Topics covered will include: LPV, ADS-B Out, PBN, FANS, Data Comm, CPDLC, CPDLC Departure Clearances (DCL), and Link 2000+. One-on-one consultations are also available before and after the sessions and throughout the show days.

    “The entire NextGen roadmap is more than just ADS-B Out,” said Robert Randall, Universal Avionics Sr. Sales Manager for the U.S. “We want to keep customers armed with the appropriate information so the proper
    decision can be made when selecting products to upgrade their aircraft,” he added. “Not only for the ADS-B Out mandate, but to also complete the entire NextGen roadmap as outlined by the FAA.”
