LPV Certified on ATR-42 and ATR-72 using BA-110 ACU

Nov. 18, 2020

EXTON, PA – Blue Avionics BA-110 ARINC 429 CSDB Unit (ACU) is EASA certified to provide pseudo ILS from the Universal UNS-1Lw FMS to the ATR-42 / ATR-72 Primus EDZ-800 Integrated Display System to allow the aircraft to perform coupled LPV and RNP approach. The BA-110 ACU is configured to receive FMS data from the UNS-1Lw on ARINC 429 and provide Distance ID, Distance, Nav tuning, and pseudo ILS (GPS guided Glide Slope and Localizer) and health status to the Primus EDZ-800 system on CSDB (Collins Standard Data Bus) when selected to LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance).

The system allows the ATR-42 and ATR72 Aircraft to fly coupled RNP (Required Navigation Performance) and LPV approaches to airports with published RNP and LPV approaches. The Dual system provides for redundancy and high dispatch availability. The STC was performed by Aerotec & Concept of Toulouse Blagnac, France.

“This system will greatly enhance the ATR-42 and ATR-72 Aircraft to fly to and land in more airports safely for regional airlines”, says Gilles Coltro, Program Manager, Aerotec & Concept. The BA-110 ACU also monitors itself with built-in-test (BIT) and provides a Fail discrete to indicate if the system is failed or missing. “The BA-110 ACU is part of the Blue Avionics Adaptable Avionics Product line including the BA-440 Router/Filter and BA-540 Adaptable Avionics Unit (AAU) that are configurable to perform hundreds of functions on aircraft. We have thousands of Adaptable Avionics products flying on Business jets, Regional Airlines, Helicopters, Military Aircraft, and Airliners. We are proud to have our BA-110 ACU now certified on the ATR-42 and ATR-72”, said Ross Cairns, Blue Avionics founder and VP of engineering.
