Blue Avionics BA-540 Adaptable Avionics Unit (AAU) is FAA certified by Peregrine on the Embraer EMB-120 to provide interface between dual GTN-650 GPS/COMM/NAV/MFD and the Flight Data Acquisition Unit (FDAU). The BA-540 AAU also provides dedicated discrete outputs for side 1 and side 2 marker beacons.
The BA-540 AAU is configured to reformat the Dual GTN-650 GPS/NAV/COMM/MFD ARINC 429 outputs to be compatible with the existing FDAU / Flight Data Recorder (FDR) for the aircraft. In addition, the BA-540 AAU converts the ARINC 429 outputs from the GTN-650 GPS/NAV to dedicated inner, middle, and outer marker beacon outputs for both GTN-650 GPS/NAV.
The BA-540 AAU monitors itself with built-in-test (BIT) and provides a Valid discrete to indicate if the system is failed or missing. The EMB-120 STC installs a Garmin G700 TXi Avionics suite with 10.6” PFDs, 7” MFDs, Dual GTN-650 GPS/NAV, GRS-79
AHRS, GDC 72 ADCs, GWX-75 Weather Radar, GTS-855 TCAS I, GTX 345R Mode S ES/ADS_B transponders, MD302 Standby
indicator, and Blue Avionics BA-540 AAU. The G700 TXi installation is engineered, installed, and certified by Peregrine of Englewood, Colorado. “This total cockpit refresh will greatly enhance the operation of the EMB-120 Regional and Freighter aircraft to have all the features of a glass cockpit as well as Dual GTN-650s to fly RNP routes, LPV approaches, ADS-B airspace, as well as
integrated COMMs and enhanced situational awareness with the new displays.
