Spirit AeroSystems was established in 2005 when Onex Corporation acquired what is now Spirit AeroSystems from Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The company's headquarters are in Wichita, Kan., the Air Capital of the World, with additional operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Okla., Prestwick, Scotland, Samlesbury, England, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and is developing new manufacturing facilities in Kinston, N.C.; and Saint-Nazaire, France.
