Delta, BC – After winning four prestigious awards, SEI Industries’ Bulk Aviation Transportation Tank (BATT) was quickly adopted by numerous air carriers who supply Canada’s remote sites and, now, it’s been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for use in the United States.
SEI is delighted to congratulate Ryan Air and Bering Air, both from Alaska as the first American carriers using the BATT. To date there are 12 Canadian air carriers, two American air carriers and six carriers in Colombia (not including the military) using the BATT. Interest has also been expressed from Peru, French Guiana and Bahrain – countries that are all in the process of securing their own BATTs.
From single Otters to Boeing 737 jets, the BATT is clearly making aviation history. Some large-aircraft operators are even requesting multiple BATTs (connected via manifolds) with pumping equipment capable of delivering 30,000 USG of bulk fuel in one day!
Initially developed as a tool for South American law enforcement drug interdiction operations, the BATT is the world’s first collapsible fuel tank, specifically engineered to each aircraft’s interior. Instead of rigid fuel drums that can leak and damage aircraft interiors, the BATT is soft-sided and customized to fill the fuselage area correctly.
Once fuel from the BATT is unloaded, the air operator can easily roll the tank up, store it and re-use the same floor space on the return flight for other paying cargo such as core samples – essentially cutting the cost of bulk fuel delivery by 50%. From small air operators to large, the BATT’s uniqueness is becoming a great Canadian success story and a “must have” for remote operations.
