StandardAero to Open CFM56-7B Hospital Shop in DFW Later This Year, with Test Capability to Follow in 2023
StandardAero announced a number of new milestones and developments related to its on-going support of the CFM International CFM56-7B turbofan engine, which powers the Boeing 737 Next Generation family of aircraft.
StandardAero currently provides a full range of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the CFM56-7B from its GE-approved facility in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, and is well positioned to respond to the returning needs of the market with an experienced team and available capacity.
StandardAero is pleased to announce that it is now further expanding its CFM56-7B capabilities, with a hospital shop capability to be established in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) by the year’s end, and with engine test capability in DFW to follow in the first half of 2023. These new capabilities will leverage the Global Engine Services (GES) business acquired by StandardAero last July, specifically the 220,000 sq. ft engine MRO facility and six-cell engine test center located at DFW International Airport.
The use of this state-of-the-art facility, which was opened in 2017, will allow StandardAero to fast-track the introduction of its CFM56-7B engine test capabilities in support of the global CFM56-7B customer base. StandardAero’s investment in establishing CFM56-7B hospital shop and test cell capabilities at the DFW facility also highlights the company’s commitment to its highly skilled workforce at the site.

StandardAero’s CFM56 capabilities are noticeable for their depth, encompassing both an extensive range of in-house component repair and overhaul capabilities provided by StandardAero Component Services (SACS), as well as engine health monitoring (EHM) services supported by the company’s dedicated EHM team. These capabilities were further enhanced in 2021 following StandardAero’s acquisition of PTS Aviation, a worldwide supplier of engines, modules and used serviceable material (USM) for the CFM56-3, -5 and -7B engine models.
Since launching its CFM56-7B program in 2009 StandardAero has now undertaken over 700 shop visits, and the company continues to invest in this marketplace, working closely with CFM and its partner companies.
