The AFS Bell 407 Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) provides the optimum performance possible within the existing Bell cowling, utilizing a single forward-facing barrier filter with a side access door for ease of maintenance. The single flat filter assembly is mounted just left of the aircraft's bifurcated engine air inlet system in the same location and in lieu of the Engine Air Particle Separator (EAPS) or Air Induction Screen (FOD Screen). The IBF installation requires minimal modifications to the existing air inlet cowl assembly without impacting the integrity of Bell's forward firewall. An access panel on the right side of the air inlet cowl allows the operator quick access to the filter for servicing without removal of the cowl. Engine water wash provisions are provided with the new IBF and function the same as the original Bell system; the filter does not require removal to perform the water wash. A self contained bypass system is provides with a cockpit annunciation and activation switch along with a Filter Maintenance Aid (FMA) for on condition monitoring of filter condition. The AFS IBF system provides dust, sand, and dirt separation efficiencies exceeding 99% to assure your engine has the maximum protection possible.
