Sébastien Imbourg Named Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Safran Aircraft Engines
Sébastien Imbourg was appointed Vice President, Sales & Marketing of Safran Aircraft Engines while also becoming a member of the company’s Executive Committee. He replaces Philippe Couteaux, who moves to another position at Safran.
Imbourg started his career in 1998 at Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines) in the CFM56 turbine design department, part of the engineering division. In 2002, he was placed in charge of the low-pressure module design for the SaM146 regional jet engine. From 2004 to 2010, as chief engineer, he was responsible for the integration of the SaM146 engine, all the way through certification.
He was appointed to head up Safran Aircraft Engines’ improvement initiative in 2010.
From 2013 to 2015, Imbourg was in charge of the Safran Aircraft Engines design departments working on LEAP engine design for CFM International, the 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE Aerospace.
He was subsequently named head of LEAP programs until 2018, overseeing the certification of the three versions of this engine, program ramp-up and the engine’s successful service entry.
From 2018 until this latest appointment, Imbourg was CFM program Vice President and Executive Vice President of CFM International. Working with his counterpart at GE Aerospace and various operating divisions at Safran Aircraft Engines, he oversaw the development, production, sales and support of the CFM56 and LEAP engines.
Imbourg, 49, is a graduate of the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées engineering school in Lyon and also holds a post-graduate degree in mechanical engineering.
