2021 Airport Business Top 40 Under 40: Ashley Udick, General Manager, Aero Center Lakeland
Ashley Udick would like to see more outreach to the younger generation about the numerous jobs and opportunities in the aviation field.
Udick said there wasn't one specific experience that led her to aviation; she grew up around aviation with her father in the Air Force. "There were numerous people that believed in me and took the time and energy to develop me into the professional I am today," she said.
A leader in aviation administration for over a decade, she began at Flight Level Aviation. She then held various leadership positions with Sheltair Aviation Services, Winter Haven Regional Airport, and Sonoma Jet Center. In 2019, Udick was listed in Aviation International News as a "Top 40" for providing superior customer service. Her prowess and accomplishments have recently allowed her to serve as general manager of Aero Center Lakeland, a brand-new fixed-base operator at the Lakeland Linder International Airport in Florida. In this role, Udick oversees the facility's construction and implementation, including a 3-acre air transport capable ramp, a 50k gallon fuel farm, an 11,000-square-foot FBO, office space, and two hangars (10,000 and 15,000 square feet).
In addition to her knowledge and capabilities, Udick's management style and personality contribute to the positivity and respect within the work environment. For example, one of her employees attested to regularly witnessing her consistent and genuine care and dedication for her team and obligations. The employee said, "It is a privilege to serve an individual who instills such value and morale amongst our team and fellow industry members."
In turn, what Udick enjoys most about her job: "Having a platform that enables me to foster social connections and being in an environment where I can support others while they pursue their goals."
