As part of its ongoing corporate strategy of meeting the needs of an aviation community insisting on value plus performance, Sheltair has acquired Tampa International Jet Center at Tampa International Airport (TPA).
Sheltair’s Chairman and CEO Jerry Holland, stated, “We are pleased to announce that we acquired Tampa International Jet Center, an award winning operation with a highly commended customer service staff. We are genuinely excited about bringing their expertise and reputation into the Sheltair family. Strategically, this location and operation fits perfectly into our growth model and compliments our network of FBOs.”
Tampa International Jet Center has consistently ranked at the top among pilots and aircraft owners asked for their opinions in national surveys at an airport that has also won top honors serving the aviation community.

Sheltair’s acquisition of Tampa’s Jet Center is enhanced by the retention of existing staff and their reputation for excellence and also provides the following for our customers:
- Four hangars totaling 108,000 SF of hangar space with 19,000 SF of office space
- 14,000 SF of terminal/FBO space
- 12,000 SF canopy for covered aircraft parking
- Over 10 acres of apron and aircraft parking space
Sheltair to invest in aviation infrastructure
Holland also announced that Sheltair has immediate plans to build a new 32,000 SF hangar and executive offices at TPA with a projected investment of $5.5 million. This project will feature the latest advances in design and construction and include high tail doors to accommodate new large cabin business aircraft with an anticipated completion in the second quarter of 2017.
He stated, “These additional plans for future development is a recognition by Sheltair that an extraordinary staff and a prime location are only part of the formula in successfully anticipating the needs of Tampa’s vibrant business aviation market. We have a responsibility to create the custom build-to-suit facilities that many aircraft owners now require.”

As part of Sheltair’s strategic planning, the company has long recognized that Tampa has become a key base of operations for the international business market with a U.S. Customs office adjacent to its new FBO acquisition. It is also one of only two airports in the United States to regularly host scheduled charters to four Cuban cities: Camagüey, Havana, Holguín and Santa Clara.
