Sheltair Starts Construction on a New Hangar Complex at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport
Sheltair Aviation on July 31, announced the firm will build, lease, and manage a new 20-acre Northside Hangar Complex at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport with fixed-base operator services offered by Banyan Air Service.
The facility will not only include a state-of-the-art 180,000 square foot hangar complex consisting of eight large cabin-class sized hangars and an additional 30,000 square feet of office and shop space but will also be the home of Banyan’s Northside FBO terminal, allowing them to continue to serve an expanding, exclusive clientele that insists on professionalism and privacy for their travel arrangements. Construction is already underway on the $30 million dollar complex with ribbon cutting ceremonies scheduled for the winter of 2019.
“This is an extremely exciting project for us as we are partnering with Banyan Air Service to create the type of facility that complements our respective firms; Sheltair building and managing a new state of the art multi-million dollar aviation facility and Banyan’s top of the line red carpet FBO services and support to a discerning customer. It represents the mutual respect two aviation services companies have for each other and a shared commitment to excellence,” stated Jerry Holland, founder chairman and CEO of Sheltair.
Banyan Air Service president Don Campion said, “Working with Sheltair on this project was an easy decision. On occasion, we may be proud competitors, but at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport we’ve aligned our interest with one another for almost 40 years. Once again we will expand our operations and Sheltair will grow their footprint through this exciting expansion of the north side of Executive Airport. This cooperative effort enhances the airport, and most importantly, better serves our customers.”
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis said, “This significant investment reflects the strength of our economy and the tremendous confidence Sheltair and Banyan have in Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The project is a credit to Sheltair’s ability to bring development to our City that builds value, creates jobs, and continues to drive economic growth.”
The aviation community has opportunities
Sheltair is providing unique leasing opportunities for exclusive, private hangar and office space with “early bird’ incentive packages available for fuel and other amenities.
Todd Anderson, Sheltair Senior Vice President for Real Estate and Development, explained, “There is already considerable interest from flight departments and aircraft owners who need more hangar space and want an exclusive secure aviation hangar complex. The project consists of eight hangars within a short taxi distance to the runway ranging up to 22,000 square feet with 28-foot high hangar doors and customized build outs are an option.”
