Leading Edge Jet Center Accepts Load of Avfuel SAF at BFI
In commitment to driving the industry’s sustainability initiatives forward, Avfuel Corporation partnered with Leading Edge Jet Center to deliver a demonstrative load of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to the fixed-base operator’s (FBO) Seattle facility.
The initial delivery, taking place on Dec. 9, marks the first load of sustainable aviation fuel for an FBO at the King County International Airport - Boeing Field (BFI) for resale to its customers, as well as Avfuel’s entry to SAF deliveries in Washington state.
In total, Avfuel delivered 7,300 gallons of SAF to Leading Edge Jet Center’s KBFI location, resulting in a two metric ton reduction in CO2 emissions for the FBO’s customers. The fuel will be placed in a general fuel storage tank, meaning that after the delivery date, any aircraft uploading fuel at this Leading Edge Jet Center facility will benefit from emissions reductions.
“As we band together as an industry to commit to a clean future, Avfuel is working diligently to do its part, including delivering single loads of SAF to sustainably-minded customers like Leading Edge Jet Center,” said Mark Haynes, Avfuel’s vice president of sales. “Demonstrative SAF delivery events like this send a demand signal to producers, customers and regulatory authorities, bringing us one step closer to realizing aviation’s sustainability goals. Avfuel thanks the Leading Edge Jet Center team members for their collaboration on this exciting opportunity and being upstanding stewards for change.”
“Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time,” said Steven Levesque, Leading Edge Jet Center’s executive chairman. “It is critical for every industry to innovate and contribute to a more sustainable future, and for individuals to make greener choices wherever possible. Leading Edge Jet Center is proud to partner with Avfuel in bringing their blended sustainable aviation fuel to BFI, providing our customers with a high quality, green alternative to traditional jet fuel.”
