Sun Air Jets announces that its new green building-certified hangars at the Van Nuys Airport are now fully operational. The vision and origins that led to today’s expanded Sun Air Jets brand began 25 years ago in 1996 when the first Hawker 700 began charter service. The new facility will support the rapidly growing organization and offer its clients more available private and secure hangar and terminal space in the greater Los Angeles area.
This new facility doubles the size of Sun Air Jets’ footprint of available space and presence in Van Nuys. The two adjoining hangars that each have attached private terminal and office facilities are located in the northwest corner of Van Nuys Airport, providing 71,0000 square feet of new space on 4.4 acres. Designed to offer a superior level of luxury and sophistication, the new Van Nuys facilities offer private offices, lounges, conference meeting rooms, gated guest parking, and numerous other amenities necessary to meet today’s evolving business aviation needs. Sun Air Jets plans to introduce the space to its clients and guests with a grand opening celebration later this year.
Sun Air Jets was assisted in securing this new location by Aeroplex Group Partners, who secured the entitlements and managed the project development team, working with Viole Construction and JMRA Architects. This team has completed multiple successful projects together. Aeroplex will oversee this new location, together with Sun Air Jets’ already existing hangar/terminal facilities on the northeast corner of Van Nuys Airport.
The new facility also meets the state’s strict environmental green building standards and includes a solar roof-top feed-in tariff system that will assist the Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) environmentally sustainable energy program. Designed to achieve the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification, this project is just one part of Sun Air Jets’ commitment to lead the way to a more sustainable future for private aviation. Sun Air has also partnered with Terrapass.com to ensure seamless carbon offsetting of its charter flights and is one of the first private aviation companies to offer a permanent supply of sustainable aviation fuel in Southern California.
The additional hangar and terminal facility are now open and available for managed aircraft clients. For inquiries about securing hangar space in Sun Air Jets’ facility in Van Nuys, call (805) 389-9300 or email [email protected].
